UPCOMING SHOW April 15, 16, and 17, 2010
The Nashville house band this year is also outstanding with the awesome Earl Erb on guitar, Knocked out bassist Rick Boyer, drummer Rick Van Augh of the Time Jumpers Band, and David “Goldie” Russel on fiddle. It will be worth the trip just to hear the band.
My oh my…..are we ever excited about the 2010 Southern Illinois Steel Show coming up in just a few weeks. This year, we are celebrating a full decade of presenting some of the very best steel players to ever play a country song.
This year, our featured players will be Joe Wright, who is a fantastic entertainer, and always leaves his audience wanting more. Hall of Famer, Ron Elliot. Ron always puts on a great show and will tickle your funny bone as well as tug on your heart strings. We are delighted that Lynn Owsley will be back this year. Lynn is always a favorite at our show, and makes friends wherever he goes.
We are also delighted to announce that Eddie Dunlap will be back. Eddie is an enormously talented young man, and he is one of the fastest rising stars in the steel guitar business. Well known steeler, Mike “Cookie” Jones will be here for the first time. “Cookie” is the vice president of the North Tennessee Steel Guitar Association and played with Barbara Mandrell for many years. Al Svenddal returns this year, after lighting up the stage last year with some awesome steel work that just blew away the audience. Also, for the first time, Mike Sigler will be here for the Friday show only. Mike is very much in demand, but was kind enough to work us into his busy schedule this year.
Another exciting announcement is that we will have five great steel guitar companies represented at this years show, and that the folks who build them, play them. Former pro steeler Jeff Surratt, who now builds Showpro steel guitars, will be featured on our show as a player, and will be displaying some of his great guitars. GFI builder, Gene Fields, will be there with some of his instruments, and will also be appearing on our stage. Beck Musical Instruments will be there for the third year in a row and will feature Dan Burnham on our stage. You may remember Dan from last year, not only for his steel playing, but for the great work he did on keyboards. Gary Rittenberry, along with Roger Crawford, will be there showing off some Rittenberry steel guitars, with Roger playing onstage. The fine folks from Derby steel guitars will be there again this year, and we a thrilled to have them back.
The 2010 lineup of talent is awesome, and we think it’s one of the best we have ever had, and, thanks to the great talent, along with the support of the amazing vendors and sponsors at this year’s show, we are expecting to have a wonderful time at this show and hope that you will come and enjoy it with us.
More information on tickets and contacts will be forthcoming soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions, email us at lendell@accerweb.com.
